Actually I find it difficult to say things than doing it I never wrote a blog or even a short note on real facts. So please overlook the mistakes and get the essence of how this event flourished.
It really requires a lot of patience and time to do what I have never done in my life before -Charity! I learnt that charity is not only giving money, it is about giving oneself.
We (me and vijiyalakshmi) did the fieldwork on HOPE school for special children. It is a school for day scholars and 11 orphans, who are mentally challenged. We spoke to the trustee regarding their needs and at the same time we were scrutinizing credibility of the school. Since we found it trustworthy, we have consolidated their requirements and proposed it to Varun.
I have to say here about Varun, even if he is modest about the big things he does.Varun is really a down to earth person, very much encouraging and been with us all the time to make this event a success. A page is not enough to say about this guy so let me continue with the event .
With my little knowledge about buying provision and medicines; I identified the shops near by my house. I bought the required items for HOPE school. Lessons learnt while buying items is “Doing things two days before to avoid last minute hiccups – especially while buying medicines.”
All set to go with everything needed for the event, I reached HOPE school around on May 23rd 10:56am. The sad thing about being punctual is there will be no one to appreciate it. It happened to me
, but people arrived in 10 to 15 minutes time.
Varun and Priya came with a box of sweets (laddu); sadly I didn’t taste it We distributed the sweets to the children. After sometime Vijayalakshmi and team (Deepa and Mathy) arrived, special thanks Mathy for volunteering herself for this event. As the event progressed we were interacting with the children and also distributed the dresses collected (courtesy: Aricent Products BU). I have to thank the products people of Aricent at this juncture for their overwhelming response on this dress collection
.
Then we got to see Hope’s another facility for children, which is planned to be open probably in the month of July. We handed over the provision and medicines to the trustee, and then all the PUNYA members had a discussion about future events and how to do things further.
I could see happy faces and smiles all over J. The event ended in a happy note, but I thought it is just a beginning of bigger things ahead J. Thanks to all of them who made this event a great success. Looking forward to continued support for all you guys.
